From a Farm in Nantou to Your Doorstep: The SunnyHills Story

It Begins on a Mountain

The SunnyHills story does not begin in a commercial kitchen. It begins in the sun-soaked countryside of Bagua Mountain (八卦山) in Nantou, central Taiwan, where the brand was founded in 2008 with a straightforward conviction: that food made from real ingredients, grown and handled with care, simply tastes better.

That conviction became a business model. SunnyHills operates as a Farm-Bakery-Store, meaning they grow their own pineapples, bake their own cakes, and sell directly to customers. Every stage of the process belongs to them.

Why Owning the Farm Changes Everything

When a brand grows its own fruit, it controls what goes into the product from the very beginning. SunnyHills pineapples are organically grown over 1.5 years, non-GM, and hand-cut by their team rather than sourced from commercial paste suppliers. This level of ownership over the ingredient is rare in the industry, and it is the reason the pineapple filling in every SunnyHills cake tastes unmistakably like real fruit.

The pineapples are not approximated. They are cultivated, harvested at the right moment, and processed carefully. There is a significant difference between that and opening a tin of factory paste, and it shows.

A Brand Built on Quiet Consistency

SunnyHills now has physical stores in Taiwan, Singapore, and multiple locations across Tokyo, including Ginza, Minami-Aoyama, Marunouchi, and ISETAN Seed. They did not build that presence through aggressive expansion. They built it by making a product that people wanted to share, and then following the demand.

Over one billion pineapple cakes produced. A heritage that now spans more than fifteen years. And a philosophy that has not changed since the beginning: real ingredients, no shortcuts, made properly.
